Pirate Pete appeared and he had lost his treasure - well sailor Zena had stolen it - but left a map - she (Zena ) was later found up a tree at FS and we had to rescue her with a very long stick and the treasure was dug up using the map - all very exciting!

well the weather is getting colder, so we need to remember our hats and gloves for Forest school.
Last week we made some fantastic tea light holders from clay in the forest for Diwali , they look brilliant, well done everyone.
Autumn is now in full swing and nearly all the leaves have fallen off our trees, its looking light and bright at Forest school.

Hi all has been good in the Forest this week, no more midges !!!
we talked about fire and lit the kelly kettle, boiling water for our hot chocolate !
the children loved this and all sat and watched as the fire was lit.
Now the weather is getting colder, just a reminder about warm clothes, socks and hats and gloves .
thanks.

Hi Everyone,
We had to cut the session short this morning as we were being eaten alive by midges!!!
I m sorry if your child appeared with little red spots on their faces and heads, but they are in good company i ve been itching all afternoon and evening, i m taking an anti histamine to help !!!
Hopefully next week they will have flown off to warmer climates !!!!
We found some amazing slugs under a plank, about 7 in total all snuggled up together ! and some of the children were pretending to be sloths !!!- hanging upside down on branches, FANTASTIC.

Hey, we're back in the Forest !
What a lovely time we all had on Wednesday, for 7 children it was their first visit to Forest School, and didn't they do well!! The weather was perfect and the site looks lovely, the leaves are just beginning to fall.
A big "thank you" to Jude, Alison and Mrs Groves, from school, for having a really good tidy up and clearing some of the rambling brambles. The children have been busy searching for bugs and exploring the area. We found silver slime trails climbing all the way up a tree, long and fat wiggly worms, hazelnuts growing on the trees and some on the floor, half eaten by the squirrels and woodlice with 18 legs !! (a new species i think!!)

Don't forget warm clothing.
Don't forget we ll still be having outdoor play , so remember the layers of clothing.
First signs of spring
Its been so cold recently that we are going to give our forest school site a little rest so that the daffodils can start to come through, so we will be visiting our site in small groups for short periods. We will be keeping an eye on the first signs of Spring with the children. Watch this space - we will tell you when we see our first snowdrops. Perhaps you could look in the garden at home for similar sproutings - and tell us at play school.
We've made bird feeders and put these out. We will be replenishing these and watching for bird life as part of our play school routine.
